Operation Enduring Freedom

The Pentagon after the attack on September 11, 2001.

On account of the terrorist attacks on the twin-towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, the Dutch goverment has decided on November 30, 2001, to support the operation 'Enduring Freedom' with military units of the Navy, Army and Airforce.

Royal Netherlands Navy

Four frigates, three mine-hunters, four P-3C-II Orion patrol aircraft and one submarine.

Royal Netherlands Airforce

Six F-16 Fighting Falcon attack fighters, one C130H-30 Hercules transport aircraft and one KDC-10 refuel/transport aircraft.

Royal Netherlands Army

One Airmobile Brigade Company, one platoon long range scouts of the Corps Commandotroops, one genie component and Patria armoured vehicles.
